You’ll remember where you were when you heard the momentous news: today the oki-ni MIX SERIES reach its half century of mixes. To celebrate we have a sublime mix from Monteral’s Flowers & Sea Creatures, which takes in everything from The Smiths through to Portishead and DFA 1979.
Flowers and Sea Creatures are lead singer Graham Baxter and musician Kosta Megalos, who together produce a delicate alt-electronica that is, in-part, inspired by the understated vocals of jazz trumpeter Chet Baker and was described by the brand’s label boss, Ben Watt, 'like Kraftwerk collaborating with Crosby, Stills and Nash.'
Their mix - called ÄTHERWELLEN - mean airwaves in German, and aptly floats its way through space, pleasantly oscillating between bands and genres to produce a warm and nostalgic vibe, created from some songs you know and others that you’re about to discover.
Flowers and Sea Creatures 'Test Pressing' EP is out now on Buzzin' Fly.
