Gaspard Yurkievich

Gaspard Yurkievich was born in Paris, 1972. After winning the Festival d'Hyeres in 1997 he launched his first prêt-a-porter women's collection in 1998. Since then, his shows have been a launch pad for his contemporary and urban visions and his work has been a catalyst for numerous creative collaborations; including partnerships with the architect Didier Faustino, artist Edouard Leve, actress Elodie Bouchez and musicians such as Matthew Herbert. In 2001 his show with the Crazy Horse was a crucial event in the development of brand imagery.

Gaspard Yurkievich launched the men's prêt-a-porter and shoe collections in 2003. Keeping in line with the feeling of the brand, the men's collection has since developed considerably and proposes a wide range of dress shirts, t-shirts and revisited masculine wardrobe classics. From 2005 to 2007, Yurkievich joined the teaching staff at l'Ensad (whilst continuing to design) to teach the fundamentals of fashion.

Inspired by folk images of different backgrounds, the collection’s influences are freely mixed and intense. Lines stay graphic as a continuation from the summer collection. The concept of classic male attire is re-worked; coats, jackets and trousers and produced in both modern and classic fabrics – gabardine, wool, flannel and herringbone tweed.

These fabric themes work around dark and warm colours: brown, anthracite, beige and black. A flash of orange , leopard prints motifs and ethnic patterns allude to the collections folkloric beginnings with elegance.
