This 'Self-Defense' t-shirt by Resistance uses iconic imagery from the Black Panther Party & comes in an off-white colourway with a gold foil print & 'Free Huey' badges.
Originally formed in 1966 by Bobby Seale & Huey Newton the party campaigned for multiracial harmony in a turbulent America - often by using violent protests. Huey Newton himself was wrongfully arrested in October 1967 for the alleged murder of a police officer in Oakland; and while imprisoned members of the Black Panther Party used the slogan ‘Free Huey' to campaign for his release. The 'Free Huey' movement grew & later became representative of the counterculture of the times. Huey’s imprisonment was everyone’s plight; the fight for his freedom was their own struggle for liberty.
The print is taken from the Black Panther's archives & is a statement of defiance to the American government. The tee also comes with two 'Free Huey' badges in green & pink. A great tee with a great story.
