The 505 jean is a classic 1960s design: an iconic, slim-fit, zip-fly jean. When your jean has been washed over many years, much of the indigo gets washed or worn away, leaving small pools of blue in the seams where the layers of fabric are thick. Murky is an over-dye that aims to recreate this moment and which does not hide all the original character. The colour is based on the clay around river banks, were loggers would stand in water up to their waists, gradually and naturally dyeing their clothing.
The 1967 version keeps the copper waistband button and the two-sided capital ‘E’ red Tab (replaced by the small ‘e’ in 1971).
