Kato casual blazer style black jacket in 100% cotton with a half lining and covered seams. Based on an original Kyoto parks work jacket from 1950s reflected in the simple styling, bond stitches and horn button stained with natural dye.
This style features button cuff detail, three button fastening, three front pockets and a quirky oversized back pocket. The fabric is natural Zimbabwean cotton woven on an original 1930s 36” loom and spun into a slub yarn to produce a fine duck twill. This process gives a stronger fabric with a crisp natural feel.
The fabric has undergone a traditional Japanese dying process called Kakishibu. The dye is made from Kaki which is then broken and crushed to a mud liquid and fermented in hemp bags for more than a year after extracting the liquid.
