Born in London in 1969 Alexander McQueen left school at the age of 16 to be a tailors apprentice on Savile Row. With stints at Angels & Bermans and Romeo Gigli Alexander went on to complete an MA at Central St. Martins in 1994.
Since leaving St. Martins McQueen has become one of the most famous and respected international fashion designers. He was named British designer of the year four times in 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003.
In December 2000 a new partnership with the Gucci group has seen the opening of flagship stores in London, New York and Milan plus the new menswear collection that is available exclusively on-line at oki-ni.
