Backstage at Christopher Shannon SS13

It came as no surprise that the Liverpudlian designer was one of the highlights of the capital's new supercharged menswear event – London Collections: Men.

Once again, Christopher presented a collection that further developed and refined his contemporary-sportswear aesthetic – cuts and shapes were familiar but the odd flourish remained.

This time around, Christopher looked at the weird and wonderful world of British folkore and festivals, with the flowers painted on his model's faces referencing to this very English source material. Interestingly, his signature panelling was largely eclipsed by a variety of patches – best of all, scattered across a superb denim jacket – which were the new vehicle for introducing contrast.

Finally, some excellent footwear, produced in collaboration with Kickers, madcap head-pieces, and frayed leather satchels from the Cambridge Satchel Company, added the finishing touch to a stand-out show.
