about The Hill Side

The Hill-Side is named after the street that its designers - Emil and Sandy Corsillo - grew up on: Hillside Avenue. They named the brand after something personal and nostalgic because that's the feeling they want their products to evoke, core brand values are craft, provenance and intense attention to detail.

Each piece is hand made at a small factory in Manhattan that traditionally produces leather and canvas bags. While a traditional tie-maker would create something much more delicate, this durable and rugged assembly process compliments the tough materials used.

The Corsillos chose to make a two-inch wide, square end necktie because its an archetype that's always existed in the background, never changing with the trends, never the coolest but never disappearing or going out of style. The square end allows the tie to be finished with the fabrics selvage, loop and label are made from basic, American cotton twill tape - the most straightforward and utilitarian process available.
