about Bernhard Willhelm

A graduate of Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Bernhard Willhelm earned his fashion stripes working for Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Walter van Beirendonck before showing his womenswear for the first time in Paris in 1999. A men's line was added in 2004.

Wilhelm's work is characterised by storytelling. Rich in fantastical imagery, his pieces have an innocence and playfulness about them - almost to the point of absurdity.
Alongside the margains of great fashion houses he's consistently constructing his own universe, uniting the banal, the grotesque and the ordinary with the world of high fashion.
