Bassike

Sydney born Deborah Sams has been involved in the fashion industry for over ten years, beginning her career as a buyer for established Australian retailers Marcs and General Pants. Mary Lou Ryan spent seven years working for General Pants, developing new brands within the business before joining label Ksubi as Product Manager in 2005.

In July 2006 the close friends began bassike, initially offering cotton jersey wardrobe staples with a simple aesthetic. By the end of 2008, bassike were committed to ensuring all their cotton jersey pieces were 100% certified organic while continuing to hold their commitment to Australian production.

The brand has developed into a more rounded collection with a feel for relaxed tailoring. The introduction of cotton shirting and tailored pants have proven a success and the label has developed cult status.
